Immanuel

"Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel," which is translated, "God with us". Matthew 1:28 NKJV

Immanuel, meaning "God with us". What does that mean to you? Recently, I asked someone that exact question. They replied, "It means exactly what it says, God with us. It doesn't always have to be so complicated."

Yes, that is true. Yet when you think of who Immanuel, our Savior is or can be in your life; it can be a wonderful blessing in the joyful seasons, but also a complex blessing during our tough ones.

In the 13 years of providing counseling to God's children this is what I have witnessed:

  • During a difficult season of struggles, Immanuel "God with us" can and wants to be our hope (1 Peter 1:3).

  • In a tough and fearful decision, Immanuel can be our strength (Psalm 119: 28).

  • When we lose a loved one or hear unexpected news, Immanuel can be our comfort (Matthew 5:4).

  • Immanuel can be the Light in the darkness of our mistakes and sins, blessing us with forgiveness and new life (John 8:12).

This Christmas season, whether it is merry or not so merry, may you remember that you are not alone because Immanuel came to earth to be with you in all seasons of your life. The good and the not so good. Jesus Christ came to earth as the ultimate gift. Immanuel, meaning "God with us" is a powerful message of God's amazing love for us.

May you have a blessed, peaceful, comforting, Merry Christmas..

In Christ,

Monica
